Forever Family (aka "Gotcha") Day

Last night we got our daughter. Yay! It has been a whirlwind of activity and travel from the time we left San Francisco on a flight to Beijing, then to Hong Kong, spent the night, then fewl to Changsha, then a commuter plane that felt more like a submarine into Guiyang. When we arrived at the airport on Tuesday night in Guiyang after about 41 hours of travel and only 5 hours sleep, the adoption agency coordinator said that the girls would be coming to the hotel at 8:30 that night -- which was in about an hour!! It all become a blur until we soon found ourselves with our new daughter in our arms.

Kathryn got a few hours sleep laying between us on the bed. Unfortunately, we were not as lucky! This morning she finally was ready to eat which made us very happy. She fell fast asleep for the important meeting at the Civil Affairs office where she officially became our daughter. She even slept while we inked and stamped her right foot on the paperwork! We are having a good first day together and managed to call home and speak with her Aunt Angela, Uncle Jim and sister on the video phone (Skype). Hoping for sleep tonight for all! More soon..
