Guiyang, Guizhou Province

Here are some photos of Guiyang taken out of the window of our room and our van. This city of 3 million is industrial and has not yet seen the new prosperity found in other parts of China, although there are some new buildings going up among the many older ones. Cars are for sale everywhere and a compact van is popular because it is cheap and holds many passengers. Problem is, they only last about 4 years. The landscape has an interesting shape of many small hills that look like tiny volcanos. Our guide says the shape was created by erosion from underwater currents when this land was under water ages ago.
